Hey, guys!

I want to inform those who could not make it to the workshop that it went
really well and it is clear that the Google Glass is an amazing device.
This was an amazing opportunity and I am personally elated that we took it.
I hope we have opportunities in the future to work with Jenny and I
wouldn't be surprised if that happens.

I also want to inform the group that I will go on ahead and buy the Glass,
but would like to leave the opportunity open for the Makerspace to own it
as a collective.

Personally, there is enough project and research use in that device from a
LIS perspective to me that it would be a reasonable risk to get it for my
own. That being said, I will be happy to collaborate with other people in
working on it and playing with it regardless of whether I financially own
it or Makerspace. I would unquestionably be bringing it into the Makerspace
with me to explore and develop with it with other people. I would
absolutely need work with other people to get the most of the device as
possible.

Concerning giving Makerspace complete ownership over it, I know that the
Makerspace as a group has gone back and forth about making the device
officially one of our own. Cost and use have been our biggest concerns and
I know that some members would like to put financial efforts towards rent
first and not devices, which I understand. I am open to giving complete
ownership to Makerspace providing that I'm not paying $1500+tax for it.
Erich has offered to pay $300 for it to go to the Space. I could reasonably
also give the same or a similar amount to that. However, we would need
more, which should be possible and it would be less stressful knowing that
we're not on an extremely short deadline to buy it. We would already have
it as a group for all practical purposes anyway.

Assuming that there is still a desire from members that the glass device
becomes owned by the Makerspace completely, I would like to open up talking
about raising money for it. How knows? If we are really successful, we
might be so successful that we would have money to put into rent as well!

I open the email thread up to you all now to discuss what else needs to be
said about this matter.

Liz
