Hello everyone, 


  


Tomorrow night Stand Up to Coal and Prairie Rivers Network will be holding a public informational meeting to address concerns regarding the recent decision by the Georgetown city council to sell water to Sunrise Coal’s Bulldog mine. The meeting will feature an overview of the mine’s threats to farmland, water, and communities and personal accounts by residents whom the mine would affect. 


  


The meeting will be held  Wednesday, July 17th 6:00-7:00pm at the  Maple Grove Lodge in Forest Glen Preserve (20301 E 900 North Rd., Westville , IL 61883)

For those who have had some experience with this issue, this will be a chance to help facilitate a conversation with residents who have only recently met Sunrise Coal. 


  


This meeting will also be an opportunity to learn about the ways the mine will impact communities outside of the immediate mining area. As we've read about the process leading up to the vote in Georgetown, we now know that coal companies don't just disrupt communities, they disrupt local politics.
