[Peace] Fwd: A Warning From Ellsberg and Chomsky

To conclude the cogent and inspiring analyses (especially Ellsberg's), unsaid but obviously evident, the United States deep state has reached the logical absurdity of capitalism in the profit motive of the military weapons industries that produce de facto foreign policy of aggression (albeit by proxy--war mess at home could affect presidential approval ratings).  Why doesn't the government require military contractors to operate on the same cost basis (sans profit) required of domestic programs?  Boeing, General Dynamics etc might go out of business, the deficit from huge defense budgets would decline, but ensuing unemployed workers might find socially beneficial jobs (probably less lucrative but so would the cost of living) and peace might actually break out, to the great consternation of CEOs and billionaire investors in the global war machine.

Good presentation by Jeffrey Sachs on DN!, despite Goodman’s inanities. I include my reaction to the Ellsberg Chomsky interview at theanalysis.com.  Your reactions?

This was hard to listen to. Despite the brilliance of the two, Each over spoke, most especially Ellsberg, who was careful to include Putin/Russsia as being as mad and self interested as the US power makers. Is this a characteristic of old age? Yes, partially, and in that case excusable.
That vitiated for me the crucial messages they intended to relate. No, it is not Russia, it is the U.S. that has been, and continues to be, the plague affecting our world.  I realize that Paul Jay did not want to cut in…

| “It’s beyond lunacy,” say Noam Chomsky and Daniel Ellsberg. In their 90s, the two men tirelessly fight to warn people of the need for urgent action to deal with climate change and the threat of nuclear war. Joining Paul Jay, they discuss the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the war in Ukraine, and the climate crisis.
