A reminder that security is an important concern at the IMC, and that
we all have a role to play. Specifically:
- When you enter studio, make sure to lock the glass door behind you
(unless you're broadcasting during office hours, which is the case for
only a few WRFU volunteers).
- Do not disclose the WRFU combination code to others. Those who need
the WRFU door code and are eligible to receive it should attend a WRFU
meeting, or contact the Membership group (rfu-membership at lists.chambana.net
), or contact one of the station's emergency contacts. Only trained
and paid-up WRFU members are entitled to the code. [For IMC safety
reasons, the IMC master-key holders, and some IMC staff, may also have
access to this code.]
- If you have access to the Production room code, do not share it with
others. If you need access to the Production room, please attend
during working/office hours, or make details with the Production group
to get the code from them.
- When you are at the IMC during times when the main space is not
open, take care about allowing others into the main space. If someone
you do not know is looking to be let into the space, confirm who they
are and why they need access. You do not need to let anyone into the
space, and you should oversee those you let in, to make sure they are
using the space in an appropriate fashion, and that the space is not
left unsecured when you leave.
- Use care and judgement, and use the emergency contact list if needed.
Security issues came up at last week's Steering meeting in two contexts:
- Consensus was reached noting that the IMC is not to be used for
individuals to sleep overnight. We are not zoned for such use, and it
poses a concern for staff who have to work in the space, as well as
posing a safety and security risk for members and the IMC as a whole.
- There are a small number of individuals who are banned from the IMC
building (following decisions at Steering), but these individuals may
still attempt to gain access to the space.
Please take care, and use the emergency contact list when needed.
