#1 UPDATED GOALS------------------------------------

Audrey wanted to know what should be our updated goals for the Web. We came
up with:

(1) While Illinois legislation exists that requires a tariff to define
utilities' vegetation management activities, act to ensure submission of a
tariff athat allows safe and reliable electrical delivery with *local
control* and minimal impact on trees and communities.

(2) Educate the public about responsible trimming and the need for continued
involvement in the tariff development process.

(3) Investigate alternatives such as underground power lines.

#2 NEED FOR A MISSION STATEMENT-----------------------

We discussed the need for a mission statement that would encompass our goals
and also be flexible enough to apply to possible future directions. This
should be done later, after time for reflection, and with a larger
proportion of the Executive committee. Laura will provide materials on
ground rules for developing a mission statement.

#3 LOBBYING-------------------------------------------

It was reiterated that as a nonprofit we cannot lobby, and that if we come
to see that lobbying is something we want to do, we would have to set up in
the right way as an organization totally separate from ISEN. (and donations
would be harder to get)

#4 PLANS FOR ARBOR DAY--------------------------------

(a) Kyra to pursue food permit (Public Health) right away. No cost because
we are nonprofit; need to check if we may actually sell baked goods.

(b) Laura will solicit juice donations from Pepsi and items from Schnuck's.

(c) Will need updated brochures for the event--Joyce is working on it.

(d) Will have lots of stuff for kids.

(e) Will have raffle for such items as (1) small oak tree for transplanting
(2) free home consultation with a master gardener (through Mary Schlembach)

(f) Will members' solicit help in the following areas:

    (i) Deliver baked goods Thursday and Friday. (Receiving points: Kyra's
place; Laura's place)

(ii) 1-2 PM deliver folding chairs, tables with your name on them to
Westside Park and/or help set up.

(iii) Work 2-5, hand out cards to people leaving the family show at the
Virginia Theatre.

Most of the existing members moved to new location to work more on Arbor Day
plans (but I had a conflicing engagement, so the minutes stop here)

#5 MISC.-----------------------------------------------
Peter Milburg had been noted as saying that IP intended to try to widen
their easements.

Respectfully submitted,

Audrey Fisher
