Hey Volunteers,

First off, thanks to those of you you came out for the Meal of Hope
Fundraiser this weekend. We raised a grand to total of $200 for this great
cause!

We have some more events in the mix for you. coming up next is something
new: a VIP Social Event!

Social event hosted by VIP Special Projects
**When: Friday, 9/30, 6pm-8pm
Where: on the South Quad, behind the UGL
*If you are a volunteer with any of the 16 sections of Volunteer Illini
Projects, you are invited to join us for S'mores and games! We will be
hanging out on the south quad with some* FREE S'mores** *and fun games! This
is a social event for all those who are actively volunteering with VIP, or
are looking to get involved. Please come out, have fun, and get to know
other awesome VIP volunteers!

When: Wednesday, Sept 28th - Thursday, Sept 29th
Time: 11am - 3pm

To sign up for an appointment to donate blood, please email
VIP.blood at gmail.com with your phone number and the appointment time you
would like. (Appointments are every 15 minutes, 11am - 2:45) Please
remember, you will receive volunteer hours for donating blood as well!

If you would like to volunteer at the drive, please email me with your
availability. You are welcome to volunteer as much or as little as you would
like.

Illini Interfaith:
DAILY BREAD SOUP KITCHEN VOLUNTEERING
9/20 (Next Tuesday!)
9am - 1:30 pm at Daily Bread Soup Kitchen at 124 W. White Street in
Champaign

We're starting up our service aspect by working with the Daily Bread Soup
Kitchen. Help us feed the hungry by volunteering for a couple hours (you
don't have to stay the whole time)! We have space for about 4-5 people so
sign up if you're interested! Our service focus is on the hungry and
homeless in Champaign-Urbana and this is just the beginning.

DRES
DRES is seeking a volunteer to scribe for a student with a physical
disability who is enrolled in a History 143 Discussion Section that takes
place on Mondays and Wednesdays in Room 313 Davenport Hall from 9:00-9:50
AM. This student re-quires writing assistance for in-class activities for
this Advanced Composition course for the fall 2011 semester. If you wish to
volunteer, please contact Susann Heft Sears at sheft at illinois.edu.
The Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) is
requesting a Reader/Scribe Volunteer for their Testing Accommodations Center
(TAC). This Reader/Scribe Volunteer is needed on the following dates:
September 27 @ 9:30 am. This exam can take up to _2 hours and 30 minutes.
September 27 @ 12:30 pm. This exam can take up to _1 hours and 53 minutes.
October 27 @ 12:30 pm. This exam can take up to _1 hours and 53 minutes.
November 3 @ 9:30 am. This exam can take up to _2 hours and 30 minutes.
(If you can do any part of these times please let me know and we can see if
some-one else can do the other part)
The Reader/Scribe volunteer will be needed as reader and as scribe.
Reader volunteers verbally dictate written exams and materials to students
who qualify for this reasonable accommodation. You may repeat and reread
parts of the exam upon the request of the student. Concise reading skills
are necessary.
The Scribe volunteers is to write, type or fill in bubbles on a scantron
sheets for a student who qualifies for this accommodation while taking an
exam or quiz. This position requires great attention to all details of what
the student is dictating.
This is a high security position and will require you to sign a statement of
confiden-tiality and be monitored by supervisors. Further details and
clarification on reader/scribe’s expectations will be provided to those
wishing to volunteer. Reader/Scribe volunteer cannot be enrolled in the same
courses that need testing accommoda-tions. Please only respond if you are
available for to be a Reader/Scribe volunteer. (If you are interested and a
U of I student please provide a list of classes you are enrolled in.)
