Exciting news!  This week we received our liquor license.  So, as of this Friday (3/12) the Art will be offering wine by the glass at the concessions counter.  Later, we will expand our offerings to include beer and liquor.

For this first week, we will not be able to offer alcohol at every show until more of our staff members are trained in responsible serving.  Soon, we'll be offering it at every showing.  Please be patient with us while we phase this into our routine.

			Our Feature

Starting this Friday, we'll be showing The White Ribbon (Das Weisse Band) for two weeks.  Among the many awards and nominations received by this film was the Golden Palm, the grand prize, at the Cannes film festival.

When Roger Ebert named The White Ribbon to his 10 best mainstream films of 2009, here's how he described it:

"The subterranean and labyrinthine secret history of a German village in the years before World War One. A mysterious series of deaths descends like a vengeance. Michael Haneke's elegant black & white photography etches the rural community in striking portraits of sinister normality. We become familiar with the important villagers, we follow their stories, we comprehend everything hat happens -- but something else is happening, something unspoken, kept secret from them, among them, and from us. Infinitely tantalizing."

This film is in German, with subtitles.  It is rated R for some disturbing content.

			Our Late Night Movie

			This week we're showing 12 Monkeys, Terry Gilliam's sci-fi classic from 1995.

With a mindbending plot and incredible visuals (Blade Runner and Gilliam's Brazil are two frequent comparisons), this film appears on most lists of top cult films. Its status as a cult film is a little ironic because the film's stars (Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, and Madeline Stowe) were all certified stars at the time of its release.  Brad Pitt was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in this film.

			Watch the trailer

We are always soliciting volunteers to
introduce the film on Friday and Saturday night for "2 Minute
Theater".  Got something to say about this film?  Say whatever you
want, as long as it's no more than 2 minutes.  Respond to this e-mail
			if you're interested.

And remember: Late Night Movies have matinee pricing ($6.50 for adults and students).

Our Late Night Movie this week is digitally presented.

			Discussion Groups - On Hiatus

Our discussion groups are going to stop for a little while.  We are seeking a different way to provide the discussion groups, hopefully one that can occur on weekends.  Please stay tuned!

Yes, we will still have our Tuesday afternoon show, but for now there are no discussion groups on Tuesdays.

			Our schedule:

The longer running time of our feature (144 minutes) requires us to adjust our schedule.  Please note the times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - as they vary from our normal schedule.
