Subject: (SMARTalk)Golden Valley passes Minnesota's strongest clean
indoor ordinance
Last night by a vote of 5-0 the Golden Valley City Council passed
Minnesota's most comprehensive ordinance to date. Golden Valley is a
suburb of Minneapolis and is located within Hennepin County (who passed
a less restrictive ordinance last week). The ordinance will go into
effect on March 31, 2005 and it covers all work places, 100% patios, all
parks (including the municipal golf course), and 25 feet from entrances,
windows, and ventilation uptakes. There is a provision to revoke the
food/beverage license of chronic offenders. Golden Valley was the last
active campaign in the Twin Cities metro region. It has been a busy 5
months with 2 counties and 3 cities passing ordinances.
