Hi all,

Sorry I wasn't able to stay at our meeting today.  Just a couple quick 
updates on what I've been doing with the wireless project (I'd appreciate 
hearing updates from other folks also):

I contacted Professor Kumar here at the U of I ( 
http://black1.csl.uiuc.edu/~prkumar/ ).  He does research on wireless 
networking and communications research and would be a very good resource to 
connect with.  I am interested in talking with him some more and seeing his 
lab (I would like to visit and see how folks are addressing the issue from 
a money-intensive, resource-rich perspective).  If you're interested in 
joining me, let me know ASAP as I'm going to try to set up a meeting time 
soon (no guarantees I'll be able to incorporate everyone's schedule, but 
I'll try).

Also, I've been talking with Nancy D-R (who is one of the UCIMC's 
volunteers) and she is willing to write up a progressive technology grant 
for the UCIMC.  I've suggested that the grant be written to support 
community webhosting.  We'll be writing it in a way that will encompass 
several aspects of the wireless project's projected costs.  Though one can 
never count on getting grants of these sorts, if we do, we'll probably get 
between two and four thousand dollars to buy equipment.
