You've got a chicken-n-egg problem with radio channel: you need to have
selected a channel in order to send & receive IP packets, which in turn
you want use to select a radio channel. (Obviously you can bootstrap the
protocol using a default channel then switch to a new channel once you've
received your dhcp info; but that solution requires to pick a default
channel, so why not just stick with it? Other approach would be to scan
each channel in turn & try to dhcp on that channel -- but that leads to
longer bootstrapping time. -- I'm referring to the time it takes to
bootstrap the network protocols, not the host, BTW. -- Or you can simply
try to locate a valid SSID during scanning...)

Note that the above discussion actually applies to any L2 parameters
(SSID, etc.) you want to "dynamically" configure. We had a discussion a
long time ago about that kind of problems, and decided to just stick with
static values for CUW, at least for now.
