Yes, SSH should be open. If not, well, then, you could run sshd on port
80,443 or 53? But you shouldn't have to.

What about IM? Surely, there must be public call for that. People have to
realize that the Internet is more than the web. But they won't. People
remain ignorant, by choice.

I am not so sure VoWiFi is going to work so well on a mesh network. Mesh
nets tend to have high latency, and variable latency. Those are both
pretty bad for VoIP. Of course, if you can cut down the latency so it's
not so much of an issue, that would be great.
