Eleni Moraites, featured Cabaret Artist
Acoustic/Rock/Open Stage

Eleni has a new CD out and this will be a free CD release party. See
November 23rd show description for more info on Eleni.

Andrew Kerr with Cameron McGill and Darrin Drda

Folk/Acoustic

Andrew Kerr is a story singer in the best folk tradition. His music
is a mix of "introspective folk-influenced songwriting, sarcastic
stand-up comedy, and rock and rap-influenced music and
grooves". Cameron McGill of the indie-rock group Morris Minors will be
performing solo and acoustic. "He translates emotional tales through
his devastatingly honest lyrics and trademark nervous breakdown
delivery." Darrin Drda, host of the IMC's weekly cabaret, sings about
trancendental things: road trips, drug trips, love, mathematics, and
plenty of things in between.

Kris Delmhorst w/ Kate Hathaway, Mac Sampson, and Kevin Elliott
http://www.krisdelmhorst.com
Folk/Acoustic

Kris' blues inspired folk music will move you. It'll move your heart
and it'll move your feet. Her latest album features "songs ranging
from junkyard rockers to two-kleenex ballads, back-porch hootenannies
to midnight lullabies." Kate Hathaway is a young local folk
singer-songwriter who could easily be touring the country. Her
beautiful guitar and lyrics will keep you riveted. I heard Mac
Sampson's Guthrie-esque roots country/folk stylings at a local open
stage and had to book him. Kevin Elliott is the host of From the
Joshua Tree Inn on WEFT 90.1 FM Tuesdays 6-8pm. Many know Kevin as an
expert on folk music, now you have the chance to hear his great skills
as a singer songwriter as well. This is an insane amount of folk
talent to have in one place in one night. This is a folk night not to
miss.

Teddy Goldstein with Etay Luz and Dale C. and Rory Miller
http://www.teddygoldstein.com/ Folk/Acoustic

Teddy Goldstein is known as much for his clever songs - whether
sensitive or comedic - as for his energetic and unpredictable shows. A
master of both songwriting and theatrical timing, he keeps his
performances fresh with hysterical ad-lib lyrics and improvised
musical solos within the tight structure of his well-crafted songs. A
two-time finalist in The Telluride Bluegrass Festival's National
Troubadour Songwriting Competition and recent finalist in The USA
Songwriting Competition, Teddy has garnered recognition for his songs
while his regularly sold-out shows attest to the brilliance of his
performances. Etay Luz is a U of I student with a wide repertoir of
folk stylings. Dale C. and Rory Miller are a father and daughter duo
who will be playing their blues/folk/country/rock songs range from the
wacky, to the personal, populated by quirky characters and images from
daily life. Dale and Rory will alternate playing his songs and hers.

Other upcoming shows:

Saturday, November 16, 2002
Vicki Salz and Felonious Funk with Jason Bently
http://www.vickisalz.com/
Folk/Funk
Vicki Salz, from Atlanta, plays a dynamic live folk set combining
DiFranco-esque fierce guitar with her jazz influenced sax and flute
and her bluesy voice. Vicki combines folk sensibilities with the jam
aesthetic of funk. Felonious Funk is a tight, refreshing, original
funk rock band from Chicago. They'll mesmerize you with their
grooves. Jason Bently is a local acoustic guitar player who sings
originals and covers such alternative pop favorites as R.E.M.

Sunday, November 17, 2002
Ripley Caine
http://www.ripeleycaine.com
Rock/Folk
"Part PJ Harvey, part Grace Slick, part Joni Mitchell and part Jim
Morrison." Ripley Caine is "completely left of center, comically
sarcastic, and a little fiery, ripley caine breaks the mold of the
stereotypical singer/songwriter. This woman combines the rawness of
alternative with the softness of folk and the edginess of rock and
roll." Ripley returns to the IMC after a fantastic performance at the
opening of the Shows space this spring. If anyone out there might be
interested in opening for this show please let me know.

Saturday, November 23, 2002
Ellen Rosner with Eleni Moraites and Lorenzo Goetz
http://www.ellenrosner.com
http://www.lorenzogoetz.com
Rock/Folk
Ellen Rosner is an indie-rocker from Chicago with folk-rock
roots. She's as comfortable with a full band in a raucous club as with
just her acoustic guitar in a cozy cafe. You may have seen her solo at
Grrrlfest, this time around she'll rock us with her full band. Lorenzo
Goetz claims their influences to range from Johnny Cash to Wu-Tang to
Miles Davis to Sublime, in a word mutt-rock. Eleni Moraites is another
amazing local performer that crosses the boundaries between folk and
indie-rock.
