RECTANGLE (www.rocktangle.org)
The dissonant rock outfit Rectangle displays a love for guitars
and all the strange, magical things they can do in their twisted but
catchy indie rock songs. Listen for alternate tunings, effects pedals, and
weird, almost Middle Eastern chord progressions as Rectangle's dual
tensile guitar lines twine around one another like gossamer threads woven
by hyperactive spiders. Yes, Poster Children indie rock magic carpet rides
can be counted an influence on the Illinois quartet's sound, as can a
number of the usual indie rock suspects -- Sonic Youth, Pavement, and The
Pixies -- but Rectangle has a creepy, mangled, sometimes startling mien
all its own. The band debuted in 1998 with an EP, Prowl Across the Arctic,
then came back in 2000 with their first album, Bunker (produced by the
Poster Children's Rick Valentin).

RE:REC
Re:Rec combines a noticeable appreciation for the power of dynamics with
razor-sharp, angular guitars. The group improves upon the work of past
projects (Bargos Steeler, Beowulf Scantron Test) by extending beyond the
shadow of great bands like Polvo and Don Caballero into a bright light all
their own. Coupling the guitar work of Dheeru Pennepali and Tim Iseler with
a solid, snappy rhythm section, Re:Rec is charting new territory for rock
music, expanding from Chicago outward.

THE POTOMAC ACCORD (www.potomacaccord.com)
Hailing from St. Louis, the Potomac Accord play their indie rock with the
usual guitar, bass, and drums, but also keyboards. Some of you might
immediately think of Little Joe Gould, but there's no cello, so it's
completely different. The songs are epic, the instruments are droning,
and the vocals are emo.

THE DYNAMO THEOREM (www.thedynamotheorem.com)
Indie/emo hometown heroes, the Dynamo Theorem arose from the ashes of
Echolalia well over a year ago and have been mixing up emo/punk/rock with
jazz and hip-hop beats. Their ever-strong EP "Truth or Consequence,
New Mexico" has been receiving rave reviews.

All IMC shows are non-smoking and all ages. Non-alcoholic beverages and
snacks will be available. BYOB if 21+.
