THE ROOTS OF ORCHIS (http://www.slowdance.com/rootsoforchis.php)
The Roots of Orchis (from San Diego, on Slowdance Records) are a group
of musicians who are a few steps ahead of the pack. While most of
their high school friends were twiddling around with hardcore punk
music in the mid-90s, they were experimenting with drum machines,
synthesizers and multiple basses. What began as the desire to make
"weird" music without vocals, turned into an exciting new band. While
their early influences are fairly obvious (jazz, dub, early
post-rock), they have quickly developed into a group that has a sound
of their own, one which continues to evolve over time, breaching the
boundaries between avant rock, instrumental hip-hop, and IDM
(intelligent dance music). They have shared a stage with the likes of
Modest Mouse, Blackheart Procession, Pinback, Liars, the Rapture and
Tristeza among others.

OMA YANG (http://www.slowdance.com/omayang.php)
Tourmates and labelmates Oma Yang play their own style of noisy
instrumental rock'n'roll similar to Mogwai and Don Caballero. Dueling
guitars and a raucous rhythm section confront the listener with a
playful dissonance that slowly evaporates into ethereal melodies built
around synthesizers and delicate ambience. The group have spent the
years since their last album touring with such up-and-coming acts as
Explosions in the Sky, Six Parts Seven, and Volta Do Mar while also
opening for such established bands as US Maple, 764-HERO and American
Analog Set.

THE GUNS OF NAVARONE (www.thegunsofnavarone.com)
Hailing form Alton, IL, the Guns of Navarone are the uncontested
champions of math rock this side of Chicago. The Guns of Navarone
have conquered central Illinois as far east as Bloomington-Normal, and
now are ready to take on Urbana-Champaign. Perfect for fans of Drive
Like Jehu.

THE BUZZARDS
The Buzzards are an alt-country indie rock band out of Champaign,
featuring Steve Lamos of DMS and American Football. They're the indie
rock band that fell into an alt-country pickup truck bed. A must see.

All IMC shows are non-smoking and all ages. Non-alcoholic beverages and
snacks will be available. BYOB if 21+.
