Ripley Caine, Doria Roberts, Eleni Moraites
Saturday, June 14th @ 8pm
$10-$15 sliding scale at the door

The Channing-Murray (above the Red Herring)
1209 W. Oregon St., Urbana, IL 61801
(217) 344-8820

I can't get over how jam packed with talented artists this show
tonight is going to be! I'd pay ten bucks and drive to Chicago to see
any one of these folks and they'll all be playing the same show
tonight!

"when life knocks you down, [ripley caine] is what you listen to
just before you pick yourself up and get back in the fight." --
    rebecca - grrrlfest 2002

"caine delivers some haunting, ethereal vocals with the swag and
snarl of grace slick softened with the rawness of an early joni
mitchell." -- mark christopher gc magazine

Left of center, comically sarcastic, and a bit sassy, Ripley
breaks the mold of the stereotypical singer/songwriter and instead
revels in pushing the envelope by blending the rawness of
alternative with the softness of folk and the edginess of rock and
    roll.

"Just a girl and her guitar can sometimes blast above the rowdiest
rock. That's the case with Doria Roberts. Her lyrical wisdom and
simple strums combine to make for one grooving gig. Roberts' music
is both political and emotionally savvy. " -- Curve Magazine

"Doria Roberts plays a delicious almost indescribable acoustic
based mix of folk, R&B and jazz. Singing it with sweet soul and a
whole lotta class" -- Hal Horowitz, Atlanta Press

"Eleni Moraites is like Oprah in a cat fight with Ani Difranco on
valium with a hint of 'just got back from church' and then
therapy, sucker-punched by a sweet kiss with a voice like drinking
    honey." -- cdbaby.com

Tuesday, June 17th - Holly Figueroa and Joni Laurence
"Holly Figueroa's roots run deep into the murky waters of American
music, touching on gospel, folk, jazz, avant-garde and Americana." --

Saturday June 21st - MJ Walker and Fictive Kin and Buster's Dream
Enjoy the honest bluesy porch music of these two amazing folk
groups. Fictive Kin is an easy going musical family. They're among the
finest folkies on the Chambana scene. Buster's Dream has a high and
lonesome mountain folk sound with hints of Woody Guthrie.

Saturday, June 28th - Adam Brodsky
Anti-Folk! Outrageous, dorky, in your face songsmithing. If you like
Dan Bern or Hamell on Trial, you'll love Adam Brodsky. If you hate
Adam Brodsky, you'll love Adam Brodsky!
