legislation.

are invited to record video or sound of the event and to make use of the

Press Release, Brandon Williamson, marchforequalrights at gmail.com

Since November 4, 2008, tens of thousands of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and
Transgender (LGBT) community members and their supporters have taken to the
streets throughout California to show their outrage at the passage of
California Proposition 8, which revokes the right of same-sex couples to
marry. Similar discriminatory legislation was passed in Arizona, Arkansas,
and Florida, and in response the nationwide LGBT community and its
supporters are stepping forward to protest the treatment of LGBT Americans
as second-class citizens and to fight for equal rights for all Americans. In
a statement released on November 4, the No on 8 Campaign declared, "Victory
was not ours today. But the struggle for equality is not over."

On Saturday, November 15, Americans of all sexual orientations – members of
the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Queer communities, Trans and Intersex
people, and their Straight allies – will turn out across America to
participate in what could be the largest organized protest movement since
the Civil Rights Era. To date, more than 250,000 people have pledged to take
part in the nationwide event in front of America's City Halls, State
Capitols, and the nation's Capitol Building to make their voices heard. The
protest in Champaign-Urbana will take place at 11:30 AM by the Alma Mater at
Green St. and Wright St. See also the facebook group:

This is not a California issue. This is an issue of equality across America.
Stand up and make your voice heard by joining us in DC on November 15 to
unite our voices against H8 and other recent legislation that seeks to make
second-class citizens of LGBT Americans.

Q: What is the Protest and Movement about?
A: The protest is against the passage of CA Proposition 8, similar
propositions and amendments in other states and against discrimination. The
Movement is a Nationwide effort to secure Equal Rights for All.

Q: What is Proposition 8?
A: Prop 8 provides for a Constitutional Amendment in California to prohibit
same-sex marriage rights; similar propositions and amendments were passed in
Arizona and Florida.

Q: Why the March, Why Now?
A: The passage of these Propositions has angered the national LGBT community
and their supporters. Many feel as if they are second-class citizens, but,
according the the No on 8 Campaign, the fight is not over. The final
statement released by the No on 8 Campaign stated, "Victory was not ours
today. But the struggle for equality is not over."

Q: It's a protest, so is it peaceful?
A: Yes, The organizers of this nationwide event have stressed that like the
protests that have taken place over the last
week, it will also be a peaceful demonstration. "Let's move as one full
unit, on the same day, at the same hour, and let's show the
United States of America that we too are United, citizens equal in mind,
body and spirit and deserving of full equality under the law."
