 *Gesundheit Fortieth Anniversary Fundraising Party!*

Come one, come all to the Gesundheit! Institute's first fundraising party of
2010. This party kicks off the beginning of our fortieth anniversary
celebrations, as we continue to model health care based on FUN and
FRIENDSHIP rather than on insurance companies and profit. Come hear about
and support Gesundheit's Global Outreach, educational programs in health
care justice and humanism in medicine, and other projects. Don't let the
politicians in Washington make you think that the only way forward is to
appease the corporate health system. Bring friends, make new ones, get
involved. There is a suggested donation of $50-$100 but any amount is

 Bi-annually, on the 1st Saturday afternoon of April and the 1st Thursday
Evening of October.
   Steering -First Thursday of the month, 8-9pm at IMC

   Community Connections - 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm.
   Finance - Every Thursday at 5:30 PM at the IMC
 Librarians and Archivists - 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month, 1pm-4pm.
 ODDMUSIC - Open Hours Every Sunday 7-9pm (off the Family Room).
 Outreach - 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 6pm.
 *Print (Public i)* - Thursdays 5:30 PM at IMC.
 Production - First Thursday of the month at 7:00pm in the first floor of
the IMC
 Shows/Booking - Every Thursday at 7:00 pm
 Tech - Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 6:00pm in the main space
 Web - Monthly; day and time TBA.
 WRFU 104.5 FM - 1st Tuesday (8:00pm) and 3rd Saturday (1:00pm) of each
month.

* IMC Shows Presents: Big Grove Zydeco! *

With a driving rhythm section that can't be beat, the fiddle wizardry of Ben
Smith and Matt Turino, and Tom Turino on Cajun accordions, Big Grove Zydeco
performs contemporary Zydeco standards and a host of zydecofied rock and
country songs--from Boozoo Chavis to Social Distortion with twists along the
way.  The band is one of Champaign-Urbana's premier dance bands so be sure
to bring your shoes and a partner or two.

*LAYOUT DESIGN WORKSHOPS!  *

Ever wished you could learn basic design principles for making stuff like
posters, zines, business cards, CD art, books, brochures, or newspapers?
The Public i is holding a series of layout workshops this Spring, with our
very own Dave P!

All sessions are held at the Independent Media Center at 202 S. Broadway in
Urbana and are open to anyone who's interested.
Some sessions are specifically about how to help out with layout for the
Public i; others are about layout design in general and more tailored to
participants' interests.

Thursday, February 11th, 6:30-7:30pm (Public i)
Saturday, February 13th from 3-5pm (Public i Feb. issue layout)
Thursday, February 18th, 6:30-7:30pm (Public i)

 News from The Bike Project

  [image: BikeProjectLogo.jpg]First Learn-a-Bike class will take place
Friday Feb. 17 at 6:00 pm. It's a bicycle class for 1st-5th graders covering
bicycle basics and some mechanics. For more information, please contact Emma

In order to better serve some of the underrepresented bicycling crowd, we're
holding the next Women & Trans in Transit night  March 2nd from 6-9 pm. All
are welcome, especially women and trans! This event occurs continuously the
first Tuesday of every month from 6-9 pm. Hope to see you there!
