October is *National Breast Cancer Awareness Month* (NBCAM). The American
Cancer Society’s estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2013
are: 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer, and 39,620 deaths from
breast cancer. The estimates indicate that right now there are about 2 ½
million breast cancer survivors in the United States.  *October 18 is
National Mammography Day*. The National Cancer Institute recommends that
women in their forties and older have mammograms every one to two years.**
