[Imc-fiscalissue] meeting wrapup

Attending tonights fiscalissue meeting were Arun, Zach, David, and
Mike.

At the meeting tonight we decided to take on a few tasks:

1) David is going to draft a webpage up which is a FAQ about fiscal
sponsorship in plain and modest terminology that is consistent with
the terminology used by members of the global collective. This
website's contents will be consensed on by the fiscalissue group, then
proposed for consensus on accuracy to the finance group, then proposed
to steering for adoption as the official explanation that we'll always
endeavor to link people to when talking about fiscal sponsorship.

2) Zach is going to draft a statement that will, once/if
modified/approved by fiscalissue and adopted by steering, serve as the
UCIMC's official response to the global concerns. The statement will
humbly apologize for the organizations roll in allowing an incorrect
view of the global structure to propagate and it will outline what we
are doing to proactively address this.

3) We drafted a 3 sentence boilerplate language to propose to steering
to use as our standard way of talking about our status as fiscal
sponsor in PR literature.
 
DRAFT   The Indymedia network operates on principles of autonomy and
DRAFT   non-hierarchy, and the UC-IMC strongly affirms these principles. The
DRAFT   UC-IMC, a 501c3 non-profit organization, hosts the funds of a number
DRAFT   of other projects, including some other Indymedia collectives.  This
DRAFT   is a service we provide only at the request of these other
DRAFT   organizations.

This is the first draft of that language and folks on this list should
feel free to comment and suggest changes. We wanted to keep it susinct
and positive and save the detailed explanations of the details for the
link to the webpage (1) above.

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, June 1st. Our report is due to
steering on June 2nd. David and Zach have committed to getting draft
versions of our respective statements sent to this list well before
the next meeting so we can do some discussion and revision here.
