There's a lot of information and a lot of possibilities.

Hi All,

So what do we want to do now? There are a few options I know of.

1. We could sign another year's space sharing agreement for our current
space.

This would require everybody who has been contributing money to the
Makerspace to continue doing so at more or less the same amount. But at
our current membership, this doesn't cover rent.

What would make it possible is if we partnered with another
hacking/making group at the IMC, ODDMUSIC, to kick in $100/mo for rent.
They'd share the space with us and they'd build and play weird
instruments down here.

We could also partner with the IMC Computer Help Desk. We would also
take some space in the room. This has been vetoed in the past by the
group and I understand why. However, the Help Desk has recently started
taking donations and made $70 in about a month and a half. Not a huge
sum, but a dent, certainly. Just throwing it out there.

2. We could move into the cheaper space down the hall.

It's smaller, cheaper ($200/mo), and people from the Bike Project would
be walking through it whenever they need access to the Bike Project. We
could potentially make this monthly rent with our current membership and
financial commitments. It would also be easier for members who are
committing large sums every month to reduce the amount they're contributing.

3. We could move out.

To where? I don't know. I don't have anything else lined up. We'd have
to figure out what to do with all our materials.

4. Other options?

Chuck has explored other spaces in the past. Chuck, do you have any
updates? Does anyone have any updates on options they've researched?

In any case, the Makerspace would continue to exist as a group in some form.

I want to thank everyone for the hard work and resources that they've
put into the Makerspace over the past year. I'm looking forward to more
Makerspace action in 2011, no matter what form it takes.

You're all amazing people: Chuck, Stewart, Sean, Brian S., Gergana,
Derek, Matt, Barry, Wayne, Kendall, Harvey, and everyone else whose been
around the space and whose names I can't recall (There's a ton! I'm not
a human Roladex!). We couldn't have done it without you.

OK, my brain is done dumping for tonight. Thanks for listening, everyone.

Brian
