entirety. There's a lot of possibilities.

Hi All,

No matter what happens, we have to make $480 ASAP to pay the remainder
of our space sharing agreement.

I've been discussing a promising and fun way to do this with Sean and
the new IMC shows coordinator, Isak. The Makerspace has a number of cool
fundraisers we've been planning, but haven't pulled off (yet). We should
keep developing those and work to put them on. But the one I think holds
the highest likelihood of making that kind of money in one night is a
screening of the original Tron.

As many of you probably already know, Tron 2 is about to be released on
Friday, Dec 17. Before the marketing campaign for that started, Disney
started making it very difficult to get film or DVD copies of the
original Tron. Since a lot of people who will be seeing Tron 2 have
never seen the first one, there will probably be a lot of demand for
screenings like this. And since I'm a huge nerd, I purchased a copy of
the original on DVD with all extras several years ago.

We have a lot of support for this idea. Isak is a very creative and
dynamic individual. She's already done a lot of the licensing legwork to
get this going. The deal is that we absolutely need a public viewing
license, which will cost upwards of $150 for two showings and can be
arranged over the phone. However, with that license we can charge for
admission. We just have to split half the revenue with Disney. Isak is
working to get further details.

We'd shoot to hold two screenings on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The IMC space
can hold almost 300 people. We've got a projector screen, a pro sound
system, and about 150 chairs. We need to borrow a projector. And we need
lots, lots, lots of publicity.

Sean and I discussed doing an LED throwy workshop before or after. We'd
need to plan to get materials and set a price for kits/workshop.

Here's the part where I get lame. I am going to be in Detroit for work
next week from Wednesday, December 8 to Saturday, December 11. I will be
in touch via phone and email, but likely only at night.

I'm going to ask people who want to help pull off the Tron screening to
get in touch with Isak at isakgriffiths at gmail.com. Folks who want to
help with a throwy workshop should contact Sean at sstevens at gmail.com.
And of course, you can always email me at this address or call or text me.

Thanks,
Brian
