Hi-

As you know, the IMC is a horizontally structured group- there are no
set hierarchies among groups or people- we all help each other out.
Sometimes, IMC members or working groups don't know about all that the
IMC, both as a whole, as as individual working groups, offers. It's
even the case that volunteers don't know the full scope of what their
very own group does/offers! So...

We at Community Connections are creating a series of resource guides
to help everyone see how super we all are (e.g. guides for members,
working groups, teachers, teens, job-seekers, etc). In this way we can
continue to support each other and recognize the contributions we are
all making. It will also help with general outreach, fundraising, and
our membership drive. This in turn will bring more members and
volunteers to your group as well as to the whole IMC. As the project
progresses, we can also help your group create an insert to the IMC
brochure so that you get even more outreach!

We're asking that you brainstorm answers to the following questions
(30 minutes?), then bring the questions to your group and spend 15
minutes explaining the project and asking if the group wants to add
anything else to your answers. We'd like you to kick off the
brainstorm to inspire you co-volunteers, but it's important that your
whole group be involved in the process, both to get stray ideas you
might not think of, and to build this as a whole-IMC effort. We're
asking that you do this in the next two weeks. If there is an
issue/problem with this request of the timeline, please let us know!
This is a seed project that we will continue to build on- thank you
for helping it grow!

The questions are:
1. What does your group do/have/offer that is a resource to the
public/anyone? (e.g. computer help desk)
2. What does your group do/have/offer that is a resource to other
working groups? (e.g. reduced cost copies)
3. What does your group do/have/offer that is a resource to IMC
members? (e.g. ability to check books out of the IMC library)
4. What do other groups do/have /offer that is a resource to your
working group, as a group? (e.g. shows will put your working group's
events in the weekly announcements)
5. What does the IMC as a whole do/have /offer that is a resource to
your working group? (e.g. discounted space rental)
6. Who is your current spoke, their email, and their phone number?
(email and phone number will be kept internal to the IMC)
7. What is the email address of your group?
8. When are your working group meetings?
9. What is the best way for interested people to contact your group?
10. Is there someone in your group who is willing to be on the IMC
emergency contact list? (e.g. if something happens, there are a number
of people to call who have GMK keys and will come help if they can)

They are attached in a file for your answering convenience- you can
type them in there and send the file, or type the answers in an email
and send that. We included a list of current IMC groups for your
reference, but you don't have to answer every question for every
group- just what comes to mind. Please send your answers to
community at ucimc.org

Thanks so much for your time! You are a great asset to the IMC and we
really appreciate what you do. Yes, this is a form letter, but we know
who each of you is, and we're serious about how great you are.

Take care,
Chris
