*CUDO and Krannert Center Team Up for PechaKucha Night*

*Friday, July 30, 2010, at 8:20pm; doors open at 7pm*

    *Krannert Center, Amphitheatre*

    *FREE admission*

First devised by a pair of Tokyo architects in 2003, PechaKucha
Nights have become international phenomena that use a simple concept
to create big community exchanges. Presenters have 20 images and 20
seconds per image to share their ideas, works, and passions for a
total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds flat.

The July 30 event will be the fourth PechaKucha Night hosted by the
Champaign-Urbana Design Organization (CUDO), and this first
collaboration between CUDO and Krannert Center for the Performing
Arts will offer exciting new elements to the offbeat format that
include free admission and an outdoor venue. The west terrace of the
Center will be re-imagined as a outdoor club with DJ Mertz spinning
in the Amphitheatre beginning at 7pm and an outdoor bar serving up
beer specials throughout the night. Presenters will light up the
building facade with their images, and plenty of seating will be
added to accommodate a large crowd.

Topics and perspectives vary widely, but the high energy and diverse
creativity have undeniable appeal to all. Confirmed presenters for
PKN Volume 4 include Matt Childress (/Funstainable Transportation/),
Stewart Dickson (/MakerSpace/), Peter Exley (PechaKucha Night
Chicago Co-Organizer), Nan Goggin (/What Inspires Design/), Laura
Hayden (/Trials and Tribulations of an Urbana Slumlord/), Will
Leinweber (Co-founder of Merge.FM), Joanne Manaster (/My Little
Black Book of Scientists I Love/), Hector Mandel (Aerial
Photography), Jeff Mellander (Building Restoration), David Monk
(/Preserving Prairie/), Rose Morefield (Costume Design), Michael
    Morgan (/Designing Your Life/), and Deke Weaver (/Elephant, a
    Performance/).
