Newsroom-
I pitched the following stories to Free Speech Radio News in the beginning
of last week, and just got a response from them since I went out of town. I
wont be in town until the 19th, and Matt Marten ( filling in for Aaron
Glantz this week) would like these stories asap, like this week. Even though
I volunteered them, I obviously am unable to produce until I get back on
Sunday.
Anybody want to try doing these? The audio for the Wal-MArt pieces are
already gathered, a script just needs to be written for them, and sent to
fsrn at hotmail.com. These pieces are the ones that FSRN said that they want a
script for.
I asked Matt Marten is they could wait a week, but I haven't heard back from
him yet.
Email me or Matt Marten,or call Matt Marten at W:510 848-6767 x699, or H:

Thanks! Pauline
>Impacts of and public opinion on Wal-Mart
>Since the initiation of a second Wal-Mart development in a 6 mile radius,
>Champaign-Urbana labor unions have been picketing. Their use of non-local,
>non-union labor and environmental impacts have stirred many citizens of
>this area. Two five minute segments have already been produced on this
>issue. One is a compilation of 4 interviews conducted with random citizens
>about the walmart development. The second is a focus piece on an
>anti-walmart protest that took place this summer, containing 4 interviews
>with protesters as well as political chants at the rally.

>The (depleted)Uranium train
>There has been little media attention about a train that will be carrying
>Uranium and travelling from NY to Idaho this month. The train will be
>travelling through a town within 20 miles of Champaign-Urbana. Interviews
>can be conducted with Ilinois anti-nuclear activists to educate the public
>on the dangers of this cargo and make suggestions about how to stop it.

>The impacts of Factory Farms on communities-Bellflower Dairy Farm
>Champaign County, IL is experiencing recent developments that are spreading
>nationwide- Factory Farms. This past spring the Bellflower Dairy Farm was
>proposed and met with public opposition. This summer a Pork processing
>plant located themsleves in a nearby town, claiming they were benefitting
>small farmers by "taking away middleman" in the pork industry. Interviews
>can be conducted with local anti-Factory Farm activists and citizens,
>including FARM (Families Against Rural Messes).
