[Imc-newsroom] evaluations?

First I want to say that tonight's show was really good, perhaps the best
so far in terms of being cohesive, easy to follow and well organized, along
with having some nice segments. All segments were well produced, I was
especially impressed with the feature, Sehvilla's commentary and the IP piece.

I want to again put on the table the suggestion that the newsroom do some
evaluations of the newshours produced so for BEFORE we do any more
radio. I know that we don't want to slow ourselves or stop our momentum,
but I also think that there is a lot for everyone to learn by sitting down
and taking stock of what we've done so far, and seeing what worked, what
needs improvements, and thinking of ways to do things differently. We have
a mix of people with a variety of experience in both radio and journalism,
but united by passion and enthusiasm. I would like to see this put to work
to have the more experienced radio folks share their experience and
techniques and for the folks with less experience to bring to the table
fresh ideas and perspectives for doing things.

Already this past meeting it seemed as though ideas or projects for radio
segments were in progress to air on WEFT during already existing
programs. Though these are not part of a formal program relationship with
WEFT, nonetheless if they're tagged with the IMC by-line, the listener
doesn't know the difference.

Before any more radio segments are produced for WEFT I think we really must
come to a consensus on some basic guidelines and standards for how such
segments and programs should be produced and sound.

If we're looking to do more radio segments soon, then I think we need to do
this soon. If we're taking a break, then it can wait. But, I do want to
note that it will be easier to do while the experience of doing these shows
is fresh in our minds.

Is this something that anyone else thinks is important and valuable? If
so, when are we ready to commit ourselves to doing it?

BTW I don't think this needs to be a huge overwhelming effort--with some
preparation by individual members and some facilitation during the meeting,
I think we can do it in an hour or so.
