On page A-2 of today's News-Gazette there's a picture of a "supporter of
the tree sitters" being "apprehended" (three big police officers have him
down on the ground, one is pulling his hair and one has his and on the
man's neck).
   The caption reads:

   PROTESTOR CAUGHT
Monroe County, Ind., sheriff's officers apprehend Marc Haggerty on Friday
after he tried to enter a wooded area in Bloomington, Ind. Haggerty was
supporting protestors who had been in trees since March to oppose an
apartment complex for low-income residents on the site. Authorities used a
hydraulic lift to pluck three people who had been in the trees. A fourth
climbed to the upper reaches of a 90-foot red oak to elude police. More
than 60 police officers removed other protestors after bulldozers and
heavy equipment cleared a roadway and knocked down trees.

If Marc Haggerty isn't in jail, maybe we could interview him about how he
was treated by the police and what he was doing when they "apprehended"
him. If he is in jail, maybe we can find someone in Bloomington who could say
something about his treatment. It seems like an important section to keep
with the story.

would anybody like to borrow my copy of the News-Gazette?

ATTENTION ALL WHO EMAIL ME: please send your mail to
"anlyzstrlz at advancenet.net" and NOT "asta at advancenet.net". Though they
both go to the same place, "asta" is my username and NOT my email and I'm
going to put an end to it soon.
Thanks.
