The British government and police forces have taken
progressive steps toward the decriminalisation of
cannabis during the past week. Respecting the wide
spectrum of opponents of drugs laws, including many
prominent Conservative parliamentary members, police
in Brixton, south London, have ended seizures of
cannabis, instead issuing a verbal warning. On early
Sunday morning, London newspapers reported that the
relaxation would extend to Customs officials as well
in an effort to focus resources on Class A drugs like
heroin and cocaine.
