I found this link on the front page of the Seattle IMC site, and given our 
efforts to get things published in the Octopus, I think we might find some 
valuable guidance in it.

I haven't looked at all of it, and it doesn't have a guide for writing 
"straight news" pieces, but there are some good things nonetheless.   A16
