*  A FIRE EARLY MONDAY MORNING destroyed laboratories,
    classrooms, and years of research work at the University of
    Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture. Law-enforcement
    officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which some
    professors speculate was an act of arson by opponents of
    genetic engineering.
