news group, 9/2/01, 1:30pm

attending: mark, paul k, avram, andy, katy, danielle, molly

paul suggests we swap the two halves of the meeting so that we focus first
on audio-specific items and then on more general news generation and
updates. This might allow a mesh with the print group which is planning to
shift its meeting time to Sundays at 3pm.

paul demonstrates the audio archive spreatsheet for logging recordings,
on the staff computer behind the counter.

one can search the audio archive via the imc librarians webpage.

the shoe box in which archived audio is stored is insufficient; a shelf
would be preferable. Who will make this?

monday 9/3 show produced by mark, featuring gesundheit institute meetigns
wth patch adams, jim hightower, and frances moore lappe; include second
part of nancy's renewable energy report; paul reports on the labor day
parade in champaign.

Discussed plans for imc video and audio recording at the WB/IMF protest in
DC. Sarah K plans to make a documentary (as part of a school project)
audio or video? Look into whether urbana imc-istas can upload mp3's from
DC. Suggetion to think about creating a documentary that has a longer
shelf life than some of the other anti-globalization protest reports.
Audio training on 9/25 at 8:30? Molly will check.

If WEFT grants a continuation of a shift for the IMC newshour after 9/10,
these people have offered to produce:
9/17 Molly

9/24 Avram -- on conscientious objection and war tax resistence

10/1 Danielle -- World bank

---
Mike L, Merideth K are interested in reporting on the presentation by
supremacist on sunday, 9/9

Avram will record a presentation by NORML

Danielle continues reporting on 85% coalition and queer issues;
Queeruption event in oakland, calif.?
