At 8 a.m. Friday (7 central), the fast track bill goes to the rules
committee of the House of Representatives (I think), then the long-awaited
vote on fast track happens. Tim Johnson is certain to vote for the bill,
but this is the vote that decides whether Bush and the corporate
executives get to set our trade policy.

At a maximum, lock yourself to Tim Johnson's leg so he can't vote. At a
minimum, watch out for the vote.

Subject: UPDATE: DEAL MADE - RULES COMMITTEE TENTATIVELY SET FOR 8am AND
    VOTE EXPECTED TOMORROW (FRIDAY)

Well folks hold on to your hats -- Baucus and THomas made a deal- we don't
have full details now (still nothing on paper), but we know that:

1) Dayton-Craig got totally taken out (with some namby pamby language
about the President having to "meet" with a Congressional oversight
committee)

2) TAA deal is 65%

Rules commitee is set for 8am - aFter it goes through Rules committee, it
can go to the floor for the vote ANY TIME.

This is looking like the 1997 FT vote scenario where they called for the
vote at 10pm Friday and kept counting votes until at 3 am they finally
gave up when they couldn't get the votes. Basically we are looking at a
long night tomorrow, so get ready - get the babysitter, bring the C-SPAN
into the office, set up the cots, get your allies cell and home phone
numbers (and your Representative or their Chief of Staff's cell phones if
possible) and CONTINUE THE MASSIVE PILE ON to ALL SWING MEMBERS!!!!! WE
MUST SWAMP THEIR OFFICES WITH NO FAST TRACK CALLS, FAXES AND EMAILS -- we
won in 97 and we can do it again, but we MUST keep going FULL THROTTLE.

More news tomorrow, but get ready for the FULLSCALE FAST TRACK FIGHT on
the House floor,

Timi
