Hey Clint and Sascha,

First and foremost: will send you an hour's worth of footage later tonight
from a demo today (we are 8 hours ahead of you guys, keep in mind). Am
about to go to a mass demo in Tel Aviv within the hour. That's the quick
and short of it, more details below . . . *but* here's the second most
important thing to note: pass on the following number to any and all radio
programs interested in getting the scoop on what's up from someone
on-the-scene in Israel and the occupied territories:

(011)(972) 5661-5072

Can get calls for free, as Israel is like most normal places in the world
(save for the U.$., of course). We're 8 hours ahead of you but am rarely
sleeping and doesn't look promising that that's gonna change. So call
whenever.

Ok, now I can finally give you a scoop on how my trip has gone.

As expected, I've jumped right into the thick of it and have suffered as a
result - I've had about 3 hours of sleep in the last three days on top of
jet lag. Last night was spent at a party at an Arab Israeli neighborhood
in Tel Aviv, called Jaffa, which is a fascinating place (may account for a
story in and of itself, within the next few days). Almost took off to
Jenin today but was denied a seat with a van that had *some* Indymedia
folks being that I was so "fresh off the boat" and the risks for the
others, residents of Israel and all, were too great to be bringing along
someone so new to here. Was a bit disappointed about that, but I
understood and I have other contacts and all. In fact, made more than few
new ones at a demo that I went to today at the Gaza Strip checkpoint,
where Sharon had been previously planning on invading (for now, those
plans have been cancelled and probably more accurately put, postponed, and
thus the demo went ahead as planned). The demo was organized by an
Arab-Israeli non-violent direct action group. Anyhow, the good news is I
got some amazing interviews! Am about to go to a mass demo here in Tel
Aviv. Hope to be in one of the two occupied territories come Monday or
Tuesday.

Thanks again for all your help will be in touch again after the demo
today,
--AK
