Rep Tim Johnson R-IL where are you?
No rhyme or reason... other than Republicans say they can't afford to
support Disabled Military Retirees, and the President doesn't support them
either. There is a key bill in Washington DC that Veteran organizations
have been pushing for... HR 303, and now a discharge Petition H Res 251.
Not one Illinois Republican has signed the discharge petition, not even the
ones that are Veterans, and several Democrats haven't as well.
Somebody please call them and ask why? Maybe a few news media types will
call the local reps... and check on it... why? Can't afford it?
Currently 190 Congressmen have signed it, only a few Republicans. Need
218 to pass.

On June 12, House Representative Jim Marshall (Georgia) introduced a
discharge petition designed to bring HR 303, the Retired Pay Restoration Act
of 2003, to a vote by the House of Representatives. HR 303, introduced by
Florida Representative Michael Bilirakis, would amend title 10 of the United
States Code, permitting military retirees who have a service-connected
disability to receive both military retired pay by reason of their years of
military service and disability compensation (concurrent receipt). A
discharge petition is a special procedure that allows a majority of the
House of Representatives (218 members) to force a vote on a particular bill.
For more information on the petition, the bill, and how to support it, see
this Website.
