The Lawndale community is facing the loss of 1000 units of project-based
Section 8 housing, one example of a growing trend 150,000 households may
face over the next five years. Tony Fuller of the ACORN Housing Corporation
and Wyvonia Pickett of ACORN Tenants United join Gene Mareno of the Chicago
Rehab Network to discuss affordable housing preservation with host Thom
Clark.

* SPIN 101: Media Boot Camp *
Wednesday, June 1, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
at Columbia College Chicago 1104 S. Wabash Ave. Chicago
in conjunction with the Making Media Connections 2005 conference

This highly interactive, fun, and grassroots-oriented workshop covers media
tactics. Topics include media dos and don'ts; spokesperson training; media
messages; "framing" your news for maximum impact; pitching stories; and
being on television. The workshop features several interactive role-play
sessions and writing assignments. Participants are put on camera to
practice their soundbites.

Though designed with nonprofits in mind, anyone working on getting
important stories on the air and into print are welcome. To register
