Radio News Meeting Minutes, 1/9/03

Attending: Zach, Danielle, Mark, Sarah, Sascha, Clint (note-taking)

Herb Stevens' MLK Advocacy for Justice Committee is providing their annual 
scholarship to low-income people.  That's a possible feature; anyone want to
cover it?

Next week's features are: CityView (Clint) and Drawing Resistance (Clint &
Jason).  We believe Kevin is doing headlines...Kevin?

(At this point Clint leaves because hiring discussions are happening)


The Hiring

Danielle gives background - grant.
9 applicants.
3 finalists.
zach miller, danielle chynoweth, dan chambers, kim kranich did the 3 intensive interviews
steering has empowered radio to make the final hiring decision
12 hours per week, $10/hour 48 weeks
money to send them to conferences - maybe
w2 position
we recommend [name kept confidential until other candidates can be notified]!
Danielle reads report on the qualities of candidates
the hiring committee will keep tabs on him as a care club to help him out

where do we go from here:
we approve
he accepts (check)
we contact the other 2 people
we should do a press release
we'll figure out the details at tuesday at Thai Basil 11:45am
Job is official starting immediately. 
we need to start paying soon for grant reasons
should be at least 10 hours per week
we need to define paid and unpaid work
tuesday and thursday meetings (basil 11:45am, imc 6:30pm)
