[Imc-radio] ISHSPA Conference

Hi all,

	I just had a very exciting talk with David Porreca, a teacher
at UniHi, and Exec. Director of the Illinois High School Press
Association.  They have a huge gathering of high school students on
October 3rd from 9:30-2:20 at the UofI, where there are lots of cool
(and not so cool) media-focused sessions.  Each session is 50 minutes
long, and a lot of them run concurrently throughout the day.  He is
organizing the conference this year, and wants a big DIY/IndyMedia
presence.  He's got Zine people coming from Chicago, and he really
wants us to participate.  We brainstormed some ideas, and these are
some ideas for sessions he came up with:

	(a) DIY Video, Guerrilla Video, Public Access TV, etc.
	(b) IndyMedia as a Movement
	(c) IMC Radio News / Community Radio / Radio techniques
	(d) Zine Making
	(e) Blogging
	(f) Producing independent comics

That's not by any means a comprehensive list; he said he could find
room to host whatever we wanted to present.  He joined our IMC on the
spot, and is pretty excited about working with us.  He says his
students at Uni High _love_ us.  So this seems like a cool outreach
opportunity.  I've already committed to running the Radio session.  He
would also like someone from the IMC to sit on an "Alternative Media
Panel."

He needs committments within the next two weeks on sessions people
would like to run.  If anyone wants to see the list of sessions from
last year, there is a flyer from last year's conference in the radio
news box.

If people could CC me on who wants to do what, maybe we could have a
coordinated presence...

He'll also probably email these lists directly.
