IMCRN Minutes 2005-05-10
Recap: Ben Grosser submitted some very well organized commentary on the
effort to eliminate Carl Hospital's not-for-profit status. Dave
downloaded it and Sandra provided a summary and used Ben's piece as part
of a segment titled "Citizen Speak." Sandra also scheduled an interview
with a local / national Blogger that is also a professor at the University
of Illinois. Sandra Ahten interviewed Nick Burbules about his role in the
emergence of Blogs and why more and more, people are turning to blogs
instead of the corporate media. Dave Berliner covered the UC-IMC Press
Conference inside the downtown Urbana Post Office and spoke briefly with
Mike Lehman of WRFU about the future of Low Power FM in Urbana. In
addition to making this show available in MP3 segments this week, Dave
uploaded to the radio.indymedia.org website. Sandra contacted FSRN to try
to get coverage of the UC-IMC purchase of the Post Office. Colleen
mentioned a while back that the Radio Group should improve the slate for
IMCRN on UPTV. Dave would also like to have small cards or a sampling of
air-checks for the media reform conference.
Outreach: Someone should contact Nick about his segment on Blogging for
further visability. We should also start postering and change the time of
our meetings to try to spark more interest in getting involved with the
radio group.
