My first recommendation for the screws is Radio Shack.  I don't think that
it's worth trying to track down the Sharp official screws since they're
probably off-the-shelf parts anyway.  My next best guess would be a hardware
store, Menard's or maybe the one over on Philo.  

I can take a look, too, if you want, Paul.

howdy neighbors:

we've been noticing that the SHARP minidisc recorders which a few of our
members have lent to us have started to lose the little mini-screws
which
hold them together.

i did some research and found out this:

SHARP parts and maintenance 1-800-447-4700 referred me to an "authorized
parts dealer," Fox Electronics in Ohio 1-800-321-6993.  They do not
stock
any parts for the MD-MT15 recorder.

SHARP customer relations 1-800-237-4277 referred me to an authorized
service center, Associated Electronics in Milwaukee, 414-281-1000.  They
have the exactly right micro-screws in stock at (get this!) $2.38 each!


The operator there recommended we try plain ol' Radio Shack, Menard's,
or
the hardware store, which is next on my action plan.

Do owners of SHARP portable minidisc recorders think it's worth it to
get
the exactly right screws?  If so, please respond.  If no, then I'll go
ahead and see what we can kluge together at the hardware stores, etc.

Also, does anyone have suggestions for where to look besides the chain
stores mentioned above?  I guess I could also try Klauss Radio out there
by I-57.

hope to hear any ideas folks have.  i'm trying to make responsibility to
our donor/loaners and their gear a top priority...
