While I agree with the sentiment of removing dependencies on
indymedia, I'd like to point out that the primary technical problem
faced by the indymedia servers this time around was lack of
independent and properly configured dns servers.  We have the same
fragility, because ucimc.org only has two dns servers, both of which
are at Zach's house.   Ideally I'd like to see three dns servers, each
in different physical locations, each protected by a UPS, and
preferrably each with a different upstream provider.  Bonus points if
all three are on different power grids :)

I can offer one machine in Sunnyvale, CA as a backup dns server for
ucimc.org, though I may not have it for more than the next year or so.
Another possibility is running a backup dns at the imc, although that
is not very independent in terms of power and upstream provider.  I
can configure bind on the tape/print server to do this, however
ideally dns servers should not do other things, to make them more
stable and secure.  If we go that route, we need to scrounge another
PCI ethernet card, because dns needs a routable address, and the
tape/print services should probably be private.
