Perhaps we want to switch from Soltec/SBC to McLeod at the IMC, too?
Since they're being uncooperative, and McLeod is cheaper, too, I
believe.

Subject: [Imsahp-users] DSL update

While SBC and Sol Tec continue to be incompetent at fixing the DSL
problem I have implemented a script which monitors my net connectivity
and whenever the packet loss goes above 10 percent it reboots my
router.

This means that about once every 1-4 hours my server has 2 minutes of
downtime. Connections are typically NOT lost during this down time but
you will experience a "freeze" when it happens. I can't predict when
it will happen.

This is a hell of a lot better than the extended network outages we've
been having but still completely unacceptable service from SBC/Sol Tec.

I've ordered a new DSL line from McLeod which should be installed in
4-6 weeks. I'll be continuing to do battle with Sol Tec until then. If
all goes well we'll get the Sol Tec line fixed and made cheaper AND
have the McLeod line so we can be multi-homed.

I'm also working on getting a different brand of router for the ADSL
line which may or may not help.

Thank you for your patience. I've been working on this problem as my
top priority for the last couple of weeks and am VERY frustrated at
the level of service I'm getting from Sol Tec and SBC.
