I suspect that someone must have chmod-ed the wrong file somewhere and that is
the root cause of the problem. Is there a log file somewhere of the changes
being made on our central servers? If not, is there a way to maintain one? I
feel like we've seen a number of small mistakes that would have been caught if
we had more eyes on things as they're being done. Call me crazy, but maybe a
rooters e-mail list or something? Just a thought -- meanwhile, I'm thinking
that checking the permissions on the relevant directories might identify the
problem.
