Bob and Dan,
Yeah, that card table has got to go, before everything on it goes on the
floor, if it hasn't already done so once or twice.
I've been wondering where the table tops and bracing from the old Main
St. production room went. Maybe Chris knows where they are?
Chris,
They're covered in veneer (and stains on the veneer, of course) and are
around 12 feet long (about 30" wide?), in two sections. There's some ~2"
holes drilled along one side of 'em where we fished cables through. The
bracing is less important, but had some big lag bolt type screws
sticking out, IIRC. Mainly, we need some 2x4 bracing to work with
whatever we come up with for a table top. Is there anything we can
scrounge in the shop downstairs?
....
If we can't come up with any of that, then we're talking about buying
some wood, if there's nothing else suitable at the IMC. It needs to be
something some, so high quality plywood may work. Another idea is to use
doors. Two doors, supported at each end and in the middle by two-drawer
file cabinet (for a total of three files cabinets) could handle the east
side of the room. I'd rather use file cabinets on just the ends and do
something else so that we get three large workstations on that side of
the room.
Once we get that up, then we can figure out how to best fix the west
side, because that portable table needs to be replaced with something
permanent that we can build a shelf on the back side at the south end to
put the EAS printer on. A door could work well here, too.
I can give an afternoon on either Thursday or Friday, but I've got to
keep working on last semester's research project to get it done. The
weekend is taken up with other things. I'm not sure about next week, was
hoping to get away for a few days, but maybe not. I also have to be
available for whenever the postmaster gets the postal inspectors to stop
by with their key for the dock gallery and to maybe move some mailboxes.
