Sorry for the delay- I've been away from my email. I think the following message went to everyone but tech, so I'm resending to it:

I pretty much agree with Danielle. But what I do when someone I know to be a contributing member needs a key is to pay the deposite myself, and I think this is much preferable to giving out a combination to what will eventually be the whole world. This is something I've gone around and around with Mike about. We do not agree on locking. I claim that 99% of the human race is honest, and that key marked "do not copy" is worth the cost and much less likely to fall into the hands of the dishonest 1% than a combination.

What I'd prefer is that things that need relatively controlled access because they are critical to a particular groups function be moved out of the Production room. I proposed moving the Print equipment out of the room into the Finance room so we didn't have such an issue with controlling the Production room, but Mike blocked it, even when I softened it to "until it was a problem with space conflict with Finance". I would prefer to let Danielle and Tanya (and interested audio prodution parties) jointly determine production room security issues. Print will take care of its self. I think RFU will too regarding the automation computer.

There is a bizarre rumor going around that I somehow have a problem with these kids because of their race. Everything you folks know about me indicates otherwise. I am really pleased to have them there, and to see all of the use of the space by young people.

I'm out of this locking argument. Go for it, Danielle and Tanya, as far as I'm concerned. But please try to respect those groups who have security issues till we can resolve them separately.

Bob
