[Imc-production] Re: [UCIMC-Tech] production room cleanup

Tommy,

1) I agree that this is an issue that affects multiple working groups, and
therefore, yes, it ought to be discussed at a Steering meeting.

2) I agree that the Production Group should be responsible (though perhaps
not exclusively) for managing and using the space in the production room, in
the same way that the Shows group is responsible for the sound system,
stage, and performances, and WRFU is in charge of its studio. Of course,
the Production Group needs to become a viable entity once more, and it is
becoming clear that you and I are interested in making this happen.

3) We need to improve communication and collaboration between working
groups, especially ones so closely related as Shows, WRFU, Tech, and
Production. Duplication of effort will be a waste of time for all of us,
and we need to be aware of each others' plans and projects. Speaking from
experience in the Shows Group (and I know you'll back me up on this), it is
frustrating and time-consuming when we're getting ready to put on a show,
and lights and speakers are missing, and cables unplugged or tangled because
other groups or individual members were using them. You're right to be
cautious of the same kinds of actions interfering with the efficient
operation of a decent production room (which has become a somewhat
indecently transformed storage room).

4) If the Tech Group wishes to discuss the production room at its next
meeting, I see no problem with this, as long as it is also a primary agenda
item for Steering, and as long as decisive actions are reserved until it
goes to Steering. The Production Group will have to be separate from other
groups in order to accomplish anything, but it will likely consist of some
individuals already in the Tech, Shows, and WRFU groups.
