*Money Smart Week Illinois Kick-Off Breakfast and Media Event*

*Friday, April 16th, 10:00 am, Champaign Public Library*


Champaign - On Friday, April 16, 2010 the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
and Champaign County Money Smart Week partners will hold a Kick-Off and
Media event for Money Smart Week-Illinois. The invitation-only Kick-Off
breakfast will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Champaign Public Library.  The
Program will start promptly at 10:15 a.m.


Dr. Alice Wood, President and Founder of Wealth Watchers, will be the
keynote speaker for the Kick-Off Breakfast.  Mayor Prussing of the City of
Urbana and Mayor Schweighart of the City of Champaign will be present to
sign a Joint Proclamation at the event.  In addition, the Money Smart Kids
Essay Contest winners will be announced, and scholarships will be awarded.



Money Smart Week, April 17-24, is coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of
Chicago and hundreds of partner organizations dedicated to financial
literacy. It is designed to educate consumers about money management and
generate awareness of financial education available on a wide range of
topics such as saving, investing and using credit wisely.



In Champaign, Urbana and Rantoul, roughly 60 classes, seminars and
activities will be carried out by representatives of nearly 40 local
community groups, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations,
businesses, schools, libraries, government agencies and media outlets.
