Brian and Chris,
The EAS dot matrix printer gets its data directly from the EAS box in 
the studio via a long old-style printer cable. It doesn't have or need 
internet access.

But the dot matrix will be going away soon, most likely. And that 
presents the need for a 24/7 dedicated EAS connection to the network.

WRFU must have a new protocol EAS system in place (or on its way) by 
September 30. The new protocol EAS will be internet based, although it 
will still require over the air reception of EAS signals. It's unlikely 
that the old EAS will be updatable and the new one will surely support 
something more up to date than a dot matrix printer.

Thus, the changes either need to add a port for the new EAS or make 
provision for one to be quickly added, because it depends on internet 
access for its operation.

I  am uncertain where WRFU is with this project. They know about it, but 
I've heard nothing back from them on what they have planned yet. The end 
of THIS month deadline is staring them in the face. So it will be a very 
last minute install and would be good if the required internet 
connection is already available, as that will be one less obstacle to 
getting it done ASAP.
