Would any of my dear, sweet, loving friends who will be here during new
year's want to drive me up to Chicago to catch a 6am train on Dec 29th?

Did I mention that you are all dear, sweet, and loving? :-)

The return trip is much less of an ordeal (the train gets into Chicago at
11:15am on Jan 3rd).

If not, I will just take a plane, which will probably fall out of the sky
due to Y2K. But you shouldn't concern yourselves with that! ;-)

(Is this being passive-aggressive? :)
