Coding in the Lab on a Tuesday Evening
*with apologies to Robert Frost*

This C command I think I know
It seemed to work a while ago
They will not see me sitting here
To watch my screen emit its glow

Non-CS folks must think it queer
To hack without a deadline near
Because of this I stay awake
Too many evenings of the year

This should have been a piece of cake
But now I see a small mistake
The only other clue's the beep
Of error code and bungled make

My program's hopeless, screwed up deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles of code before I sleep
