Urbana girl's ball stolen after rolling into street

 A 9-year-old girl's ball was stolen while she was playing Monday on the
200 block of West Washington Street, Urbana.

 According to an Urbana police report, the victim was playing with the
ball when the ball rolled into the street.

 The suspect picked up the ball and took it with him when he drove away
in his vehicle, the report stated.

 The suspect was contacted and was told to return the ball, the report
stated.

 The suspect was described as a 42-year-old Champaign man, the report
stated.

 In other police news:

 • A Champaign man was arrested for aggravated battery Wednesday night
at Speedway Station, 2315 W. Springfield Ave., Champaign.

 According to a Champaign police report, when the offender was asked to
sign a credit card receipt, he wrote an expletive instead of his
required signature.

 When the victim, an employee of the station, asked him to sign the
receipt properly, the offender punched him, giving the victim a broken
nose, the report stated.

 The victim was treated by Provena Covenant Medical Center emergency
room staff, the report stated.
