[Newspoetry] Screwed By NPR?

Tomorrow will be your day.

Kevin Klose, president of NPR, will be appearing on WILL AM 580's 20th
anniversary edition of David Inge's "Focus 580", from 11:05 am to
11:55am.

I wish Mr. Inge well on another 20 years.

Mr. Klose is another matter entirely. He has gone from being head of the
US gov't's official propaganda arm, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty to
trying to turn NPR into much the same operation. Ask him how else do you
explain taking money from the Kuwaiti government (still not a democracy,
despite billion's of US dollars to fight their war) to sponsor his
national news coverage, which unashamedly lists said government as a
sponsor? Don't let him weasel out by saying it is a "private" foundation
that is paying the freight. Like the CIA-sponsored contras were private,
also, I suppose...

Hmmm, and Socialist Forum is too controversial a underwriter for WILL
because someone might confuse us as undermining WILL's journalistic
intergrity? Something stinks here.

Not to mention that listeners are encouraged to ask questions on how
satellite and Internet radio will affect "community broadcasting"? I
guess since NPR helped killed real community broadcasting, they feel
they can appropriate our name. This smells as badly as a certain great
university's appropriation of the name of a certain displaced local
tribe of First Nation's people.
"If we kill them off, we get rights to the name."

Need I say more? Other than that I will be in class at a certain great
institution, but I encourage you to make the call (and others) for me.
